Durotar and Theramore

Chapter 19 of 24 · New Homes in Kalimdor
The years after the Third War
1 min read
Thrall founded Durotar and Orgrimmar, Jaina built Theramore, and the two leaders kept a fragile peace even when Jaina's father came to make war.
After Hyjal, Thrall led the orcs to a harsh red land on Kalimdor's eastern coast and named it Durotar, after his father. Their capital, Orgrimmar, honored Orgrim Doomhammer. The tauren of Cairne Bloodhoof settled the grasslands of Mulgore around the mesas of Thunder Bluff, and the Darkspear trolls of Vol'jin, whom Thrall had rescued on his voyage west, made their home on the Echo Isles off Durotar's coast.
Jaina Proudmoore founded Theramore on an island in Dustwallow Marsh for the human survivors she had brought from Lordaeron. She and Thrall had fought side by side at Hyjal, and they agreed to keep the peace. That peace was tested when her father, Lord Admiral Daelin Proudmoore of Kul Tiras, arrived with his fleet, determined to destroy the orcs.
Daelin attacked Durotar's coast. Rexxar, a half-ogre wanderer of the Mok'Nathal who became the Horde's champion, united orcs, trolls and tauren against him, and Jaina, torn between her people and her father, allowed the Horde to strike his forces at Theramore. Daelin died in the battle. Jaina mourned him but kept her word, and the uneasy truce between Theramore and Orgrimmar became one of the few bridges between Alliance and Horde.
